Seller policies
These policies govern how sellers operate on the Shipitall marketplace. They exist to keep the marketplace fair, safe, and compliant with South African law. By listing products on Shipitall you agree to follow them. We may update these policies from time to time; the version published here is the one that applies.
1. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to contract in South Africa.
- You must operate as a registered South African business or sole proprietor and provide accurate identity, contact, and banking details.
- You must keep your account information current and notify us of any material change.
2. Products you may list
- You may only list products you are legally entitled to sell and that you can supply.
- Products must be lawful in South Africa. Prohibited and restricted goods — including counterfeit items, illegal substances, weapons and ammunition outside applicable licensing, hazardous materials, recalled products, and anything whose sale is restricted by law — may not be listed.
- Listings must be accurate. Titles, descriptions, images, specifications, condition, and price must reflect the actual product. Misleading or deceptive listings breach the Consumer Protection Act and these policies.
- You are responsible for ensuring your products comply with all applicable safety, labelling, and regulatory requirements.
3. Pricing and disclosure
- The price you display must be the full price the buyer pays, inclusive of VAT where applicable, in line with section 43 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.
- Any delivery charges, fees, or additional costs must be disclosed clearly before checkout.
- You may not engage in price manipulation, bait pricing, or false “was/now” pricing.
4. Fulfilment and delivery
- Every order is shipped directly by you, the seller. You are the supplier for the purposes of the Consumer Protection Act.
- You must dispatch orders promptly. Unless otherwise agreed with the buyer, orders must be fulfilled within 30 days as required by section 46 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act. If you cannot fulfil an order, you must notify the buyer and refund them.
- You must provide accurate tracking information and keep the buyer informed of their order status.
- Delivery risk and cost arrangements must be disclosed to the buyer before purchase.
5. Returns, refunds, and consumer rights
- You must honour buyers’ statutory rights. Under section 44 of the ECTA, buyers may cancel an online purchase within 7 days of delivery without reason or penalty (subject to the Act’s exceptions), returning the goods at their own cost.
- Under sections 55 and 56 of the Consumer Protection Act, goods must be safe, of good quality, and fit for purpose. Buyers may return defective goods within 6 months of delivery for a repair, replacement, or refund, at the buyer’s election.
- You must process valid returns and refunds promptly. You may not contract out of, or attempt to waive, the buyer’s statutory rights.
- Our marketplace Returns policy sets out how returns are handled between buyers and sellers.
6. Commission, fees, and payouts
- Shipitall charges a commission on each sale. The applicable commission rate is shown in your vendor dashboard and forms part of your agreement with us.
- Your earnings, less commission and any applicable fees or refunds, accumulate in your earnings ledger.
- Payouts are made to your nominated South African bank account according to our payout schedule. You are responsible for your own tax obligations, including VAT and income tax, arising from your sales.
7. Conduct and ratings
- You must deal with buyers honestly, courteously, and in good faith, and respond to buyer messages within a reasonable time.
- Buyer ratings and reviews are part of the marketplace. You may not manipulate ratings, post fake reviews, or incentivise reviews improperly.
8. Data protection
- Buyer personal information shared with you for fulfilment must be used only to fulfil that order and must be handled in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act.
- You may not use buyer information for unsolicited marketing or share it with third parties except as needed to deliver the order.
9. Suspension and termination
- We may suspend or remove listings, or suspend or terminate a seller account, where these policies, our Terms of service, or the law are breached, or where buyer harm is a risk.
- You may close your account at any time, subject to fulfilling outstanding orders and settling any amounts owing.
